For this 1st layout, I lifted a silhouette page from the Silhouette America blog. Here is a link to that. They did a much better layout than I. The photo they used was amazing, the sunlight in the picture goes so well with the paper, it looks straight out of a magazine. Photos make such a difference!! But i'm still satisfied with my layout.

For the 2nd layout I was inspired by Amy Tangerine. She had 2 different layouts that I really liked. Here is a link to one and the other. I just love the clouds. I am trying really hard to get better with layering. I seem to have a hard time knowing when and how to layer. It's one of my favorite techniques right now and i'm working on it for every layout. That brings me to my 3rd and last layout, which is lifted from Shimelle. Shimelle is queen of layering. She does it so well. I just adore her style, as I have mentioned many times. Here is a link her layout.

Oh by the way if you have any constructive criticism i'd be most appreciative and not offended at all since this is a learning process for me.

Still haven't gotten there...

I've been watching tutorials, reading blogs, looking at countless layouts on pinterest and the 2peas gallery all for inspiration. As i watch all of these things i start to feel inspired and feel like i can create pages as beautiful as all these i'm looking at. Then the time comes, when my son is asleep and i can escape to my little piece of heaven to scrap for a bit...and i don't know where you start. I have all of my materials in front of me and i don't have a clue where to start. It takes a lot of effort sometimes to come up with one page and at the end i'm never 100% happy with it.  Do any of you have this same problem?
Well here is my latest project. I was inspired by the lovely shimelle Laine, not one specific lay out but just her general scrap style.
Thanks for looking...

Getting started

Hello to anyone stumbling across my tiny little spot in the millions of places available on the internet.
My name is Janicke, pronounced Ja-neek. People have struggled with my name forever.
So, I guess I should start with a little about me. I'm a 26 year old full time mom to an amazing little boy. In May of 2010 I received my BA in psychology which I can't do a darn thing with unless I pursue a masters degree which I'm not. I'm a part time student for now. In August of 2012 I should be starting a full time dental hygiene program. I know completely opposite end of the spectrum from psychology. I have mixed feeling about this as I will no longer be a full time mom. I feel excited to finally start school and have a career but there is nothing like being a full time stay at home mom. You can capture any and all special moments. You witness everything this little person does. I don't have to hear about it from someone else and regret having missed it. I'm going to miss him so much...But I've been so fortunate to have been able to stay home for 2 years with him (thanks to my wonderful loving husband). Were not rich so I have to eventually get a job (sigh).
I have been an off and on scrapbooker for years and have recently established my own crafting room. It's heaven! So, for the last few months I have pretty much done something crafty every single day. I say crafty because I don't only scrapbook pictures of my son but I also do some sewing, card making, and anything paper related. I love it!
Here is a picture of my little heaven...
I have been very inspired by Kristina Werner, check out her blog. She is the most amazing card maker I've seen. There is so much i love about her style of card making and her tutorials are awesome for learning. I find myself watching video after video for like 2 hours. And recently I've gotten very inspired by Shimelle. I love her scrapbooking style. I have learned so many techniques from her. Just yesterday I made my first Shimelle inspired layout.
I come from the Creative Memories scrapbook style. Ten years ago Creative Memories was very boring. The most layering you would see  is photo matting. There was minimal embellishments and things such as washi tape, spray mists, and pop dots were unheard of. You can say I'm having a hard time adapting to this new style of scraping where there are layers upon layers and a plethora of embellishments. As style that looks so amazing it looks like art. So i will just keep doing what I love and learn new techniques.
Here are some of my most recent crafts:
